Tron Legacy – 3D Trailer will blow your mind!

Movie goers who recently attended screenings of Alice in Wonderland in 3D were pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of the TRON: LEGACY trailer. TRON: LEGACY is a 3D, high-tech adventure about a father and son who embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous. From initial audience reactions it looks like TRON is going to be an amazing 3D Movie.

The original, 1982 film is considered a classic and has a huge fan following. It had a very distinctive visual style, and it was one of the first films from a major studio to use extensive computer graphics. This cult film resulted in a long running franchise which includes a number of videogames, comics and films. Everything about this trailer screams cool, and it looks like this movie isn’t going to be one of your average, run of the mill, disappointing sequels to popular movie franchises.

Panasonic’s TC-PVT25 awarded Best 3D TV of CES

As has been evident in CES 2010, 3D has been the main focus point for most hardware manufacturers. While there were a vast number of innovative 3D ready TVs from many of the big name brands up for display, Panasonic’s TC-PVT25 Series ended up bagging CNET’s best HDTV of CES 2010 award.

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise given the fact that almost all the tech reviewers at CES were unanimous in lavishing praise upon Panasonic’s new TC-PVT25 Series. Amongst all the 3D TVs on display at CES, Panasonic announced the earliest release date in their press release, claiming that they would begin shipping the TC-PVT25 Series in Spring 2010. They also mention that the TV will include a pair of the 3D glasses needed to view the 3D content, something certain other manufacturers aren’t willing to do yet.

This new line of Plasma TVs is an extension of Panasonic’s critically acclaimed TC-PV10 series from last year. The new model is supposed to improve in areas such as black level performance and enhanced picture quality. While this new Plasma TV from Panasonic has proved to be very capable of delivering a high quality 3D experience, it can also hold its own when it comes to delivering regular 2D content. If things go smoothly for Panasonic, it looks like this TV is going to be selling very well once it is released.

By delivering a full 1080p-resolution image to each eye, Panasonic’s Full HD 3D technology offers consumers the highest possible visual experience. Panasonic will ship in the Spring of 2010 four 3D models in sizes including 50-inch class (49.9 inches measured diagonally) (TC-P50VT25), 54-inch class (54 inches measured diagonally), 58-inch class (58 inches measured diagonally) and 65-inch class (65 inches measured diagonally). In addition, all four 3D VIERA televisions feature Panasonic’s VIERA CAST IPTV functionality and all models are THX certified.

3D capable Bravia LX900 heads Sony’s 3D HDTV offerings at CES

Sony had some exciting products on offer at CES 2010, and it certainly drew a lot of attention their way. They announced that they will be launching thirty eight new TVs with the XBR-LX900 as their flagship, top of the line TV model – a 3D ready, LED edge lit display as large as 60 inches across and a 240 Hz refresh rate amongst other awesome features. Let’s take a look at some of these exciting features that make the new Sony line of 3D TVs an early adopter’s dream come true.

Monolithic Design

The new 3D ready Sony TVs feature a new concept that has recently been introduced by Sony, termed “Monolithic Design”. This design concept is aimed at delivering a more stylish and high-quality experience to Sony’s customers. With the Monolithic Design concept, a number of Sony’s latest offerings have a very similar, stylish yet minimalistic look and feel such that they blend together perfectly in your home theater eco-system . This means that the latest 3D enabled Blu-Ray players will have a very similar styling to the latest Bravia TVs thus giving you a consistent, unified and very stylish look for all your gadgets.

This design concept revolves around the use of quality materials forming a simple, flush viewing surface with crisp edges and a smooth border. The idea is to have a minimalistic, yet elegant design that blends the new Sony products into your home’s interiors without having them stick out obtrusively and distractingly while you are watching your favorite programming. It also incorporates a unique six degree upward tilt option that offers a more natural, comfortable viewing experience.

Central to this slim profile Monolithic Design is Sony’s Edge LED backlight. This technology has enabled deeper blacks and brilliant whites, with huge improvements in the contrast ratio thus significantly improving the picture quality of the latest generation of Sony TVs. 240 Hz Motionflow technology for a smoother HD experience

Sony’s latest 3D tv offerings also feature its 240 Hz Motionflow technology that helps produce ultra-smooth images, especially noticeable in fast moving scenes such as sports and action movies. This unique technology also helps reduce interference and mixing between alternate frames assigned for each eye this rendering a cleaner and flicker free 3D viewing experience.

Internet and WiFi connectivity plus Widgets

A really cool feature of the latest line of Sony 3D Tvs is the focus on integrating these TVs with the internet and the recent focus on internet apps and widgets. These models have integrated Wi-Fi that allows users to stream music and video from numerous online outlets such as Amazon VOD, YouTube, Pandora, Sony Music, Netflix, etc. Sony has worked extensively with a large number of internet media providers so as to provide a seamless online experience.

Additionally, users can easily access their favourite websites via small apps and BRAVIA Internet widgets which can be positioned anywhere on the TV screen. You will be able to access your favourite news sites, Gmail, Yahoo Finance, Twitter, Flickr, etc, using these internet apps. Users can also view pictures, videos and music via USB and DLNA connections.

Other Cool Innovations

Another cool feature introduced in this new line of TVs is Sony’s Intelligent Presence Sensor that is capable of using complex algorithms in tandem with sensors on the TV to detect your and other viewer’s faces. The TV will automatically dim it’s backlight if it detects that there is no user watching TV and after a period of time if it doesn’t detect anyone subsequently entering the area, it will automatically shut off, thus helping save on energy consumption. This novel technology also enables the TV to deliver optimized video and sound based on the user’s viewing position.

In summary, Sony’s new line of 3D Tvs that should be released this summer features some exciting innovations that certainly make them a very good option for consumers who are looking to purchase a new 3D capable TV. In particular, we like the Monolithic Design concept, as the new TVs look drop dead gorgeous while retaining an elegant, minimalistic look. While it is difficult to say how the internet experience will be on these TVs, it certainly looks quite promising, and we are certainly going to keep our eyes on these latest Bravia TVs. Samsung to Launch the Ultra-thin 9000 Series 3D TV in 2010

As has been a common trend at CES this year, Samsung is also jumping on the 3D bandwagon with the announcement of their 9000 series, 3D enabled LED backlit LCD TVs. The 9000 series comes with a built-in 3D processing unit and like most high-end 3D enabled TVs, boasts true 1080p playback at 240 Hz, is WiFi ready and capable of streaming Netflix amongst a host of other internet apps available at the Samsung store. It also has the ability to use it’s processing unit to upconvert regular 2D programming into 3D.

However, what really makes the 9000 Series TV stand out, is it’s ultra-thin form factor coupled with it’s drop dead gorgeous design. The TV is as thin as a pencil (and that’s no exaggeration!) and has a sexy brushed metal look. Even more impressive is the full color touchscreen remote that is bundled along with the TV (pictured below). While one might be quick to dismiss this as just an expensive gimmick, this isn’t the case because the remote has some really neat features, chief amongst them being the ability to watch a separate TV channel stream on your remote while your significant other/buddy watches something else on the TV.

Sony Announces Dedicated Blu-ray 3D Player – BDP-S770

While Blu-ray has been around for a while, most Blu-ray players have been nothing to write home about. Add to that the fact that cost of most Blu-ray players was around the same as that of a Playstation 3 console system. However, Sony is looking to change all of that with what could potentially be a game-changer in the Blu-ray player domain. At CES, 2010, Sony has unveiled that BDP-S770, and they have every right to be proud of this technological marvel.
